Becka deHaan’s new album, Calming Trust and Coming King, released March 1, 2021.

Listening to Becka deHaan’s newest album "Calming Trust and Coming King" created a permanent smile on my face. Her voice is saturated with a love for singing and for Jesus that runs deep and wide. I had the best time diving into every musical moment she created. With the soaring, soulful "Magnificat", the "classy blues" treatment of "The Honeybee Blues", the clear, hushed sweetness of "I Will Be Still" and the bold, full-voiced alto arrangement of Handel's "He Shall Feed His Flock Like a Shepherd", I felt the sincerity within every lyric and her heartfelt treatment of every musical phrase; whether strident or soft, stellar vocal riffs or simple melodies.

Becka’s care in creating and self-producing this excellent recording, honouring every expression of sound, thereby allowing the instruments and vocals to interpret the worship within her heart, is to be esteemed. As a pianist, Becka gives a wonderful technical performance, expressing bright and bold renderings as well as more subtle colour and textured interpretations of her songs. And from the bench she leads her team of talented musicians, including the record's joint producer, Tim Davidson, on bass and guitars, blues lead-guitarist, Grant Heckman, and award-winning violinist, Trevor Dick, who performs Becka's own, gorgeous string-arrangement on "Hold Your Head Up".

Upon listening to this sacred and beautiful musical offering, Becka’s testimony of her calming trust in her coming king has been marked with the joy and confidence of one who truly knows Him and longs for Him to be seen and adored for who He is. The album finishes with a powerful rendition of the classic hymn, "It is Well with my Soul", anchoring her overall message of encouragement and hope of His soon return.
